Build Your Motivation to Change and Thrive
Summit Malibu helps you get serious about your recovery. It is now understood that people are often ambivalent (that is, have mixed feelings) about beginning treatment and taking steps toward recovery. Treatment professionals are trained to “meet people where they are” in this limbo of ambivalence. One of the initial goals of our alcohol and drug treatment program at Summit Malibu is to help people build their motivation to change. Everyone has unique reasons for wanting to change, and the goal is to identify those reasons and lay out an individualized path to recovery.
Intervene before there are serious consequences. Many people with problems of addiction are ready to enter treatment after some frank discussions with family and friends. When someone reaches that point of readiness, it is important to move quickly to enter treatment. A major consequence of addiction could be just around the corner, and it is important to begin the treatment process before any additional consequences pile up. For example, you don’t want a DUI to be the last step before you enter a treatment program.
Summit Malibu can assist with intervention. It also must be recognized that there are people struggling with the consequences of addiction who are not ready to enter treatment after a frank discussion with family and friends. More encouragement is needed for these individuals, and there is a long tradition of setting up an intervention to provide added encouragement.
Call Summit Malibu to help plan your intervention. An intervention will differ greatly depending on who is leading this highly charged meeting of family and friends.
